Calm Lab is founded and led by a core team of two dedicated professionals with complementary expertise in mental health and community development.
Program Lead
A mental-health practitioner specializing in trauma-informed psychosocial care, with extensive experience delivering psychoeducation to conflict-affected communities. Responsible for designing and facilitating all mental-health components, foundational psychoeducation modules, and youth-centered empowerment programs. Leads the development of soft-power frameworks and ensures all training aligns with trauma-informed principles.
Operations Lead
An experienced project manager with a strong track record in youth-focused initiatives across Southeast Asia. Oversees logistics, partnerships, strategic planning, and smooth program delivery across online and on-site settings. In addition to operations, the Operations Lead conducts soft-skills and workplace-readiness trainings such as communication, teamwork, facilitation, and basic project management.
Together, they co-lead Calm Lab full-time, shaping its vision, delivering accessible programs, and ensuring growth grounded in lived experience, empathy, and practical capacity-building.
Calm Lab Journey
Calm Lab began as a quiet grassroots effort responding to urgent needs inside Myanmar in 2022. Early work focused on emotional support for youth who had been injured, displaced, or deeply affected by the conflict. These first steps were volunteer-driven, personal, and grounded in trust.
As the need grew, young people and community leaders reached out not only for trauma support, but for a way forward. By late 2023, a second core member with experience in youth development joined the effort, and together they shaped a more structured approach to mental-health care, empowerment, and skill-building.
In 2024, these efforts evolved into Calm Lab; a mobile, trauma-informed initiative that reaches youth wherever they are: inside conflict areas through online access, in border-camp offices, community spaces, and in collaboration with rehabilitation centers when needed. Calm Lab believes these youth are not broken; they are future changemakers carrying strength born from survival.
Calm Lab always begins with connection, not recruitment. Many youth have been hurt by systems and outsiders, so every partnership starts with conversations, psychoeducation, and open community engagement. By the time direct programming begins, the team is no longer a stranger but a trusted presence offering tools, support, and space for youth to heal, learn, and reclaim their futures on their own terms.
Resource Team (Project-Based)
To deliver its programs, Calm Lab works with a pool of trusted professionals on a contract or project basis. This includes:
    Mental Health Trainers
    Licensed Counselors and Psychotherapists
    • Psychoeducation Specialists
    • Soft-Power & Workplace Skills Trainers (leadership, project management, communication, facilitation)
    Career and Life Coaches
    Facilitators from partner organizations and rehabilitation centers
    • Peer mentors and youth supporters
These professionals are brought in depending on the specific needs of each training cycle or location.

Every session (online or in-person is grounded in safety, consent, cultural sensitivity, and lived-experience understanding.

We believe Myanmar needs mental-health basics before any advanced intervention.
Our foundation is teaching youth why trauma happens, how stress works, and what healthy coping looks like.
Workplace-Ready Skills
Instead of traditional vocational classes, we focus on soft-power training: leadership fundamentals, communication, project-management basics, and facilitation skills.
Mobile & Accessible
We deliver programs online to youth inside conflict areas, on-site in border-camp offices, and in collaboration with centers when needed.
Youth-Centered Empowerment
Our goal is not dependency. It is confidence, agency, and future readiness.
